Strawberry Margarita

Blanca Aldaco is the founder, owner and operator of Aldaco’s Mexican Cuisine, Stone Oak in San Antonio, Texas. A native of Guadalajara, Mexico, Blanca’s name is synonymous with authentic Mexican cuisine.

Her contributions have elevated the taste and style of the city’s fare and have helped bring national recognition to San Antonio as the undisputed capital of Mexican food.

I love strawberries and I love margaritas. Here’s my take on this great duo. Be sure to use a high quality tequila like Partida Tequila Reposado. Or come to Aldaco’s and try a rockin’ strawberry margarita.

In the winter, I source fresh strawberries from Florida and I freeze them for use all summer long in margaritas for our restaurant patrons, Charlie (my husband) and me. Salud!

Blanca’s Rockin’ Florida Strawberry Margarita

Ingredients

  • 8 to 10 hulled fresh Florida strawberries or 4 ounces frozen sliced strawberries
  • 4 ounces Partida Tequila Reposado
  • 1 1/2 ounces fresh-squeezed lime juice
  • 1 1/2 ounces Triple Sec or agave nectar
  • About 1 to 2 cups ice cubes
  • Coarse salt, sugar or Trechas for rimming each glass
  • Whole fresh strawberries and lime slices for garnish

In a blender, combine strawberries, tequila, lime juice, Tripe Sec, and ice; blend until smooth.

Pour into margarita glasses rimmed with coarse salt, sugar or Trechas. To crease the rimmed glass, take a lime wedge and rub the edge of the glass so it is moist. Dip the edge of each glass into the salt, sugar or Trechas. Note: Trechas is a chili-lime powder. You’ll find it in the produce section of your supermarket. It’s good on fresh fruit too.
