Andie Mitchell

You need to meet Andie Mitchell. She’s the 27-year-old passionate cook, baker and “friend to chocolate” behind the exceptional blog, Can You Stay for Dinner. I discovered Andie through Pinterest when I stumbled upon her recipe for Strawberry Crumb Bars. Spend a little time on her blog and you’ll fall in love with both her recipes and her winning personality.

Cooking and baking have always held a special place in my life- from the creation to the consumption. I am home in my kitchen. My heart, my history… they belong to that space between the stove and the sink. On any given day, I’m dreaming up a new recipe, eating a peanut butter and fluff sandwich, and/or embarrassing myself publicly.

Six years ago, Andie lost 135 pounds and has maintained a healthy weight ever since. This is where her blog came into play. Not only does she post delicious recipes like the crumb bars, she also writes on topics such as “How I eat healthy while traveling“, “3 Tips for Dealing with Weight Loss Plateaus” and “A Different Way to Think about Losing Weight.”

Andie’s weight loss is inspiring and it’s one of the reasons I was so excited when she said “yes” to being featured in Culinary Chronicles. She is living proof that you can eat food that is delicious as long as you understand how the food you eat effects your body.

I’m always interested to see how others have gone about their journey. More than the path they chose and the foods they ate, I’m looking to see introspection. Not the diet, not the will power, not the tips. I want to know the ‘why.’ Because at the end of the day that is the only question that matters. Confronting the ‘why,’ confronting the truth behind each ounce of flesh, with eyes wide open, is the answer.

Andie is even writing a memoir about her journey and a cookbook filled with delicious and healthy recipes! Writing is no easy task and writing a memoir about yourself and your own journey is even harder. Critiquing ourselves usually comes naturally to many, but praising ourselves and positively reflecting on our journeys is a different story. This is why so many people use ghostwriters to help them when they are writing something like this. If you need help with your writing, here is a list of the best ghostwriters nyc has to offer. If you are struggling, this is worth a look.

Beyond the inspiring weight loss and motivational posts are the fabulous recipes. From “Chocolate Glazed Pumpkin Doughnuts” to “Lamb Meatballs with Parsley and Apricot,” Andie leaves no culinary stone unturned. So visit her blog and learn more about Andie and learn how to make the food she loves while you follow her continuing journey.

Andie is also on Twitter as @StayForDinner, her blog has a wildly popular Facebook page and you are welcome to drool over her delicious Pinterest pins. I’ll be sure to share both of her books with you as soon as they come out!
