Expect the unexpected

“Sowing is not as difficult as reaping.”

Jonann Wolfgang von Goethe – German Poet, Dramatist, Novelist

This quote pretty much sums up the current harvest situation for Florida strawberry growers. “Expect the unexpected” also rules.

The launch of the Florida strawberry harvest season has been delayed by about two weeks due to unseasonably cold weather – an unfortunate state of affairs for our 80+ growers. Once the nights become mild again, we’ll be working double time to bring them fresh and fast to you.

Hang tough. We expect big, beautiful berries that will be unusually sweet in no time at all.

Check out our recipe section. You’ll love the grand-prize winning recipe from the home cook division of our recipe contest. Taste of the South magazine was our partner. Pick up a copy of the December/January issue and enjoy more of the winning recipes. It’s available at some Walmart, Home Depot and Lowe’s stores and at Books-A-Million and Barnes & Noble outlets.
