Welcome to Sue’s Corner!

//Welcome to Sue’s Corner!

Welcome to Sue’s Corner – the official blog for the freshest, sweetest, juiciest winter strawberries in the USA.

Florida strawberries are red, ripe and ready from Thanksgiving to Easter.

Our winter strawberries are in season during the perfect times for food-and-drink-forward holidays; Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year‘s Eve (champagne and strawberries, anyone?), Valentine’s Day (chocolate dipped strawberries), and Easter. In a flash they add a bright and healthful splash to salads, sweets and sides. You can’t go wrong just eating them on their own—one of my personal favorites.

I have to say, I do know my way around a strawberry patch. For about thirty-three years, strawberries have been my passion fruit. I’ve worked in the fields as a grower, manned many a booth at the Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City, Florida and now I’m the marketing director for the Florida Strawberry Growers Association (FSGA).

The FSGA is relatively small when you take into account the amount of winter strawberries we produce–more than 8,000 acres in a short season–Thanksgiving to Easter, remember? There are about one hundred of us who pitch in to spread the good news about Florida’s winter strawberries.

Next time you come back to this blog, you’ll find lots of strawberry recipes, tips and time savers. I’ll pass along as many as I can, and I invite you to share any of your strawberry stories, recipes, cooking tips, photos, etc. Be sure to tell your friends check out FlaStrawberry.com and StrawberrySue.com. Help us spread the word.

So, get ready. Florida’s winter strawberries are coming your way!
