Dear Florida Strawberry Lover,
This is the year of firsts for us. Our first animated-cartoon mascot-Jammer, a new blog on our website, newsletters for consumers, a pilot Restaurant Recognition and Rewards™ program for chefs, an eight-page story about our strawberries in a popular cooking magazine Taste of the South, and now another major first!
Can you believe we now have our own (well sort of our own) Jammer-bedecked 18-wheeler? Read all about it in the Coming Soon! column.
In case you missed it, our booth at the Florida State Fair was a smashing success. On February 14, we handed out chocolate-dipped strawberries until we ran out-out of berries and out of energy! It’s a lot of work, but we loved seeing eyes light up when fair goers took that first bite. Yum! I was there each day from 10 am-2 pm and other staff helped tremendously, too. If you haven’t already done so, be sure to put the Florida State Fair on the calendar for 2012. We’ll see you there.
According to the Florida Department of Agriculture, the farmers in Florida generate $87 billion for the state. They deserve a salute and our support by buying Florida first. Look for the tagline developed by the Florida Department of Agriculture-Fresh from Florida. And don’t forget our theme line too, A Taste of Summer all Winter Long!
Happy cooking with Florida winter strawberries!
