Living the Country Life

Sue Harrell and Glenda McNary represented the Florida Strawberry Growers Association in a visit to Meredith Publishing‘s headquarters in Des Moines Iowa this September. The visit included a presentation by FSGA Chefs Advisory Board member, Chef Norman Van Aken in an effort to promote Florida’s winter berries to Meredith Publishing’s food and lifestyle editors.

Living the Country Life editor  Betsy Freese was quick to recap the visit with a post on her blog, Betsy’s Backyard.

The Florida Strawberry Growers Association stopped by our offices and shared some delicious recipes and entertaining ideas. As the daughter of a strawberry farmer, I know a lot about this crop. I grew up working in the strawberry fields of Maryland. But I wasn’t aware that fresh Florida stawberries (known as winter strawberries) are planted and grown specifically for sale in December through Easter. Chocolate-dipped strawberries for holiday parties? Yes, please.
